Call for Applications from Social Service Workers in Electoral District No. 4 to join Council

The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (the College) has a Council vacancy for a social service worker in Electoral District No. 4. We encourage you to consider expressing your interest in filling this vacancy.

As required by College bylaws, social service work registrants from Electoral District No. 4 are notified to identify a registrant to serve on Council for the remainder of the term, which is until the first Council meeting after the next election in 2027-2028.

Section 53.03 of the bylaws state that the current elected Council members will elect a registrant to fill the vacancy, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria set out in the bylaws.

New – Online Application Process

The College introduced a streamlined online application process through the College’s Portal.

Eligible registrants now have access to a “Council Elections” tab in the Online Portal to complete the Council Candidate Application Package.

Interested registrants can now log in to the Online Portal and complete their application today!

To stand for election, interested registrants may be eligible to run for Council if they meet these requirements:

  • Registered professional: They hold a current certificate to practise social service work in Ontario.
  • Location matters: They work or live in Electoral District No. 4
  • In good standing: They’ve paid all required fees and have no disciplinary or incapacity matters with the College.
  • Training complete: They’ve successfully completed the required training and screening process.
  • No conflicts of interest: They’re not employed by the College or any related organization and haven’t been in the past year.
  • Commitment to serve: They’re ready to serve until the next election in 2027 and haven’t already completed nine years serving on Council.
  • Skills and fit: They align with the College’s Council Member Profile (which can be accessed in the online application) and bring leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Clean record: They haven’t been disqualified from serving on Council or any College committees before.
  • Passionate about public protection: They want to help guide and support ethical and professional practice for the professions with the goal of protecting the public.

Please submit your Council Candidate Application Package by 5 p.m. (EST) on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

Voting process

Current elected Council members will elect a person to fill the vacancy, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria set out in the bylaws. Voting will take place on the week of October 20th by secret ballot.
