Sexual Abuse Prevention Program

Over the past several years, the College has seen a disturbing rise in sexual abuse-related complaints. Sexual abuse is one of the most egregious ways that registrants can harm clients and breach their professional obligations.

To address this alarming trend, the College has introduced the Sexual Abuse Prevention Program (SAPP).

Who must complete the SAPP

All registrants (except those in the retired class of registration) are required to complete the SAPP as part of their 2026 Continuing Competence Program (CCP).

What to expect

The SAPP includes seven modules and is accessed through this webpage. Registrants will review key themes including:

  • sexual misconduct;
  • abuses of power;
  • boundary crossings; and,
  • slippery slope scenarios.

The program also outlines next steps and how to incorporate these learnings into practice.

The SAPP should take registrants approximately 20 minutes to complete. A certificate of completion is available at the end, which registrants can fill out electronically or manually and save for their records.

Please note that these educational modules contain references to sexual abuse and trauma. Please take care when reading and seek support if required.

SAPP Information Sessions

The College will host two voluntary information sessions to introduce the SAPP to registrants and answer any questions they may have.

Important note: These virtual events do not require registration. Registrants will need to create an event or reminder in their own calendars or click on one of the event links below.

Feedback

As part of the College’s ongoing efforts for continuous improvement, registrants may also provide feedback on the SAPP upon completion.
