Applicants who completed their education in a language other than English or French must have their application documents translated into English or French before they are submitted to the College. Before arranging for translation services for documents, we encourage applicants to contact the College at equivalency@ocswssw.org. We can help applicants ensure they only translate documents that are required for their application.
Who can complete the translation?
All translations must be completed by a qualified translator:
- The translator must be certified and registered as a certified translator.
- This certification must come from an approved authority, such as a translator’s regulatory body, a professional association, a government ministry or another authorized organization.
- The translator must be certified to translate from their native or source language into either English or French.
What to submit to the College
Applicants must provide original documents plus a word-for-word translation in English or French. This must be a certified translation, accompanied by a cover letter from an accredited translator that includes:
- The exact name of the document(s) which has been translated.
- The method by which the accredited translator received the document(s).
- Any comments about the accuracy of the documents.
- The date of the translation.
- The translator’s credentials, such as a certification or registration number, membership card, seal or letter of attestation from the certifying body, confirming the translator’s authority to provide certified translations.
