Graduates of Social Work Programs Outside Canada and the United States

Eligibility

An international social work degree that has been evaluated by  The Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW) as equivalent to a minimum of a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) obtained from a social work program accredited by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE).

Why is the CASW Evaluation Report Required?

The CASW evaluation report lets the College know if the international social work degree is equivalent to an accredited Canadian social work degree.

If CASW finds the international degree equivalent to a Canadian social work degree accredited by the CASWE, you meet the College’s academic requirement for registration and can submit an application under the “Social Work Graduate” category.

If CASW finds that the academic credentials are not equivalent to a Canadian BSW, please contact the College for assistance.

Before Starting the Application Process

  • Apply for an evaluation report from CASW. Visit their website for instructions on applying for an evaluation report.
  • Review the Registration Requirements webpage.
  • Gather all supporting documents.
  • Plan ahead. We strongly recommend that you start the application process at least four to six weeks before you intend to start practising in Ontario. Please note that during peak periods, particularly in spring and fall when the College receives a high volume of applications from new graduates, processing times may be delayed.
