As we move through the fall season, a time of reflection and change, I’m reminded of the importance of pausing to recognize our shared progress. This season, the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (the College) has continued to build strong partnerships with employers and engagement groups across Ontario. By working together, we support social workers and social service workers in delivering safe, ethical and competent care to the people of this province.
A key highlight this fall has been the launch of the College’s new Public Awareness Campaign, which builds on our commitment to enhance public understanding of the social work and social service work professions. The campaign centres on trust, accountability and encouraging Ontarians to choose a registered professional to support the mental health needs for themselves and their loved ones. Through digital and social media outreach, this campaign connects with communities across Ontario and reinforces the value registered professionals bring to the public they serve.
Last month, the College hosted an Employer Roundtable for employers in Electoral District No. 3. The event provided an opportunity for employers to share their experiences and discuss challenges related to workforce needs, recruitment and retention and professional practice-related topics. Thank you to all who participated for your insights and engagement.
The College remains committed to ongoing dialogue and working collaboratively with employers to find meaningful, practical solutions. Your perspectives are essential helping us better understand how we can support your organizations, registrants and ultimately, the public.
As we look ahead to the months to come, I am grateful for your continued partnership and the vital role you play in upholding the standards and values of the social work and social service work professions. Together, we are helping ensure Ontarians have access to trusted professionals who make a difference every day.
Sincerely,
Denitha Breau, RN, MSN, MBA
