College Office Closed for National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (the College) will be closed on Thursday, September 30th in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is an opportunity for all Canadians to learn about and reflect on the dark chapter in the country’s history and to commemorate the survivors of the residential “school” system, their families and their communities.

The College is committed to continuing its work on issues of diversity, equity and inclusion and its ongoing efforts around Reconciliation as noted in the 2020-2023 Strategic Plan. As part of this commitment, we seek to develop partnerships with Indigenous communities to begin to implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s calls to action within the regulatory context.

The College encourages everyone to access the following resources and supports:

There is also an Indian Residential School Crisis Line that has been set up to provide support for survivors and those affected. Individuals can access emotional and crisis referral services by calling the 24-hour national crisis line: 1-866-925-4419.
