The Registration Regulation (O. Reg. 383/00) made under the Social Work and Social Service Work Act, 1998 (the “Act”) prescribes three classes of certificate of registration for social work and three classes of certificate of registration for social service work:

Registration Class Able to practise social work or social service work Use the protected titles “social worker,” “registered social worker,” “social service worker” or “registered social service worker” and their French equivalent Required to participate on an annual basis in the Continuing Competence Program Participate in College events (Annual Meeting and Education Day and the Educational Forums) Take part in the College Council election process

Vote in College Council election Eligible to run as a candidate for election to the College Council
Accountable to the College’s complaints and discipline processes
General certificate of registration
Inactive certificate of registration IFimmediately followed by “inactive” in English or “inactif” in French
Retired certificate of registration IFimmediately followed by “retired” in English or “retraité” in French
