Governance Committee

Chair: Chisanga Chekwe, Public Member

The mandate of the Governance Committee is to:

  • Develop, maintain and review governance policies and procedures;
  • Develop and review annually a Council Member Profile for each election of Council members;
  • Make recommendations to Council regarding governance policies and procedures and changes thereto; and
  • Perform other duties determined by Council.

In 2024, the Governance Committee:

  • Contributed to the College’s 2024-2029 Strategic Plan and participated in the selection of consultants to help develop the Plan.
  • Took a leadership role in implementing recommendations from the governance review, including the initiation of a brand-new governance manual.
  • Initiated a comprehensive bylaw review to align with the governance policy updates.
