Are you interested in becoming a member of the College Council? The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (the College) is pleased to announce that the call for applications is now open for interested registrants in Electoral District No. 3.
On Friday, June 19, 2026, two social workers and two social service workers from District No. 3 will be elected to join the 2026-2027 College Council. The term will begin in September 2026.
NEW – Online Application Process for Council Elections
This year, we’re excited to introduce a streamlined online application process through the College’s Online Portal.
Eligible registrants in Electoral District No. 3 now have access to a new “Council Elections” tab in the Online Portal to complete the Council Candidate Application.

The deadline to submit your Council Candidate Application is 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026.

What Do Council Members Do?
Council members play a pivotal role in governing the College, impacting policies that regulate the practice of social work and social service work. As a Council member, you’ll attend approximately four meetings annually and sit on at least one committee.

Am I Eligible to Stand for Election?
You may be eligible to run for Council if you meet these requirements:
- Registered Professional: You hold a current certificate to practise social work or social service work in Ontario.
- Location Matters: You work or live in Electoral District No. 3.
- In Good Standing: You’ve paid all required fees and have no disciplinary or incapacity matters with the College.
- Training Complete: You’ve successfully completed the required training – Serving on Council: Your role, your commitment, your impact.
- No Conflicts of Interest: You’re not employed by the College or any related organization and haven’t been in the past year.
- Commitment to Serve: You’re ready to serve for a three-year term and haven’t already completed nine years serving on Council.
- Skills and Fit: You align with the College’s Council Member Profile (which you can access in the online application) and bring leadership and teamwork skills.
- Clean Record: You haven’t been disqualified from serving on Council or any College committees before.
- Passionate About Public Protection: You want to help guide and support ethical and professional practice for the professions with the goal of protecting the public.
