The College Introduces New Communications Initiatives

The College is pleased to introduce two new communications initiatives which will help us better engage and connect with our stakeholders: the online Perspective newsletter and informational podcasts.

Perspective gets its own website
Starting this April, the College will offer the Perspective newsletter in electronic-only format. Members will be able to access Perspective online at www.perspective.ocswssw.org.

The College’s decision to move towards an electronic Perspective was based in part on:

  • A desire to be responsive to feedback from members, obtained directly and through online surveys.
  • Our commitment to increasing accessibility.
  • A recognition of the need to be more friendly to the environment.
  • Our continued efforts to reduce costs associated with printing and postage.

Members will be alerted of the upcoming spring issue of Perspective by eBulletin. Although Perspective will no longer be delivered by mail, members will be able to print a hard copy of the newsletter by downloading its PDF version online.

Podcasts
Are you interested in becoming a College Council member? The College recently created a new podcast series that highlights the experiences of Council members. The podcasts are currently available in French and English on the College website: http://www.ocswssw.org/ocswssw-podcasts/.

Social media and eBulletin update
In 2016, the College distributed over 50 eBulletins to its members and other stakeholders, covering topics such as Medical Assistance in Dying, the ASWB practice analysis survey, the 2016-2019 OCSWSSW Strategic Plan, and more. The College has also seen a dramatic increase in its total number of social media followers on Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube, from 1,961 in 2015 to 2,545 in 2016 – a 29.78% increase.
