Fitness to Practise Committee
Mandate
As part of its duty to serve and protect the public interest, the College is required to have a Fitness to Practise Committee. The duties of the Fitness to Practise Committee are to:
- hear and determine allegations of incapacity on the part of a member of the College, as directed or referred to it by the Complaints Committee, the Council, or the Executive Committee;
- and perform any other duties assigned to it by the Council.
Fitness to Practise Committee hearings are usually not
open to the public. The powers of the Fitness to Practise Committee
are outlined in the
Social Work and Social Service Work Act.
The OCSWSSW Council appointed the following people to the Fitness
to Practise Committee (September 16, 2008):

Incapacity:
* The term "incapacity" refers to a member who is suffering
from a physical or mental condition or disorder making the member
unfit to carry out his or her professional responsibilities or,
the member's certificate of registration should be made subject
to terms, conditions or limitations.
