SCOPES OF PRACTICE POSITION PAPER

In 2006, the College embarked on a project to develop a Scopes of Practice Position Paper for the professions of social work and social service work.  While drafting the paper, members and stakeholder groups were consulted and asked to offer input on the draft document.  Revisions were made based on these consultations and the paper was brought to Council for approval in September 2008. 

The objectives of this paper are to assist members and employers in understanding the purpose of a scope of practice statement, the scopes of practice of the two professions, the distinctions between them and the relationship between the scope of practice statements developed by the College and job descriptions developed by employers for members of the College.
